Lunar Dispatch: Blue Moon • May 31, 2026

Flower Moon Icon

Hello, friend.

Tonight, the heavens deliver one of their most poetic rarities: the Blue Moon.
Though it rarely wears the color of lapis or sapphire, its name alone stirs wonder. By the definition most cherished today, a Blue Moon is the second full moon to rise a single calendar month — a lunar encore made possible by the moon’s 29.5-day dance around Earth.

The older almanac tradition calls the third full moon in a season that unusually hosts four the true Blue Moon.
Both definitions share one truth: these events arrive only once every 2½ to 3 years. That exquisite scarcity is why we still say something remarkable happens “once in a blue moon.”
And yes — under the right conditions, the Moon can actually blush blue. After the colossal 1883 eruption of Krakatoa (and other great fires or volcanic events), fine particles in the atmosphere scattered the red light and let the blue shine through, painting our lunar companion in ethereal indigo.
So as this Blue Moon (also a delicate Micromoon) rises this evening, pause beneath her quiet majesty. Let her remind you that the most beautiful things in life are often the ones that grace us only… once in a blue moon.

This is the Lunar Dispatch from Full Moon Web Music.
Right now the site is still simple and new: you’ll find the home page with its gentle “Opening Soon” message, this growing Lunar Dispatch blog where these monthly letters will live, the Full Moon Favorites page, and the newsletter signup waiting in the footer.
At Full Moon Web Music we believe the full moon is more than just a pretty sky event. It’s a reminder to pause, breathe, and let creativity flow without forcing it. So every month, on the night of the full moon, I’ll send you a short dispatch like this: a little moon lore and whatever feels right to share in the moment.
Look for two releases in June, 2026.

Thank You for Visiting
In the spirit of the Blue Moon, I have added two great Blues artist performances to our Full Moon Favorites page. There you’ll find a growing collection of inspiring music videos.

Thank you for being here. Whether you’re a fellow night-time creator, a casual moon lover, or just someone who needed a gentle reminder to bloom in your own time — I’m really glad you’re part of this small circle.
We’ll do this again on the next full moon (Strawberry Moon on June 29). Until then, I hope the Blue Moon brings you a little extra magic.

With warmth under the same sky,

Chris
