Lunar Dispatch: Sturgeon Moon • August 28, 2026

Hello under the Sturgeon Moon,

The last full moon of summer is almost here. On the night of August 27 into the early hours of the 28th, the moon will reach peak fullness at 12:18 a.m. Eastern and, for most of the Americas, pass through a deep partial lunar eclipse—nearly 93–96 % covered. Expect a coppery, shadowed face that still manages to light the yard. This is the moon that closes the high season and hints at harvest.

Moon lore
Algonquin nations named it for the lake sturgeon that were most easily caught in the warm shallow waters of the Great Lakes in August. These ancient fish (some over six feet long) were a vital food source. Other names include Grain Moon, Green Corn Moon, Red Moon (for the late-summer haze that often turns it copper), Lightning Moon, and Wyrt Moon (the Anglo-Saxon herb-gathering moon). This year’s eclipse makes it especially dramatic—almost a blood-tinged lantern hanging over the end of summer.

New & upcoming release information
While the existing catalog (Forever My Love EP, The Pimple Song, Ah Woe Ah Me, and the growing Full Moon Friends / Lunar Odd Squad roster) remains fully available for streaming, new material is moving through the studio pipeline. Expect more character tracks, additional covers with full lyric support, and fresh merch drops timed to the changing light. Keep an eye on the site—the next wave is forming under this moon.

Thank you for being here. Whether you’re a fellow night-time creator or a casual moon lover — I’m really glad you’re part of this small circle.  We’ll do this again on the next full moon (Harvest Moon on September 26). Until then, I hope the Sturgeon Moon brings you a little extra magic.

With warmth under the same Full Moon,
